NUMS has issued an important notification on its website about the requirement of Entry Test for admission in NUMS Constituent, Affiliated Military Administered Medical & Dental Colleges. According to the notification, MDCAT is no more required for MBBS & BDS Admissions in Army Medical College (AMC) Rawalpindi and affiliated 12 private medical colleges and 5 dental colleges. Only NUMS Entry Test which has been retitled as “MDCAT for NUMS” is required for admission. NUMS Test is going to be conducted on 2nd October, 2024.

Army Medical College Admission 2024

Candidates can take admission to Army Medical College via one of three ways:

  • Army Medical Cadets (Male)
  • NUMS Cadets (Male/Female)
  • Paying Cadets (‏Male/Female)

NUMS MDCAT ENTRY TEST

If you want to study at Army Medical College in Rawalpindi or other Army-related colleges, you must take the NUMS Entry Test. This applies to everyone, including those aiming to become Medical Cadets, NUMS Cadets, or Paying Cadets.

Army Medical Cadet Course (M-Cadet)

To become a medical cadet as a male candidate, you must participate in the Army Medical Cadet Course and also excel in the NUMS MDCAT Entry Test. To achieve this, candidates must successfully complete the necessary steps for the Medical Cadet Test and also obtain a good score in the NUMS Entry Test.

If you want to study at Army Medical College in Rawalpindi or similar Army-affiliated colleges and become a Medical cadet as a male student, you need to follow two important steps:

  1. First, you must register for the Medical Cadet Course (AMC Test) pass army initial written intelligence test, physical test, medical test & interview.
  2. Second, you need to do well in the NUMS MDCAT Entry Test.

Shortlisted candidates will call for Admission as Medical Cadets. Pakistan Army will cover all your educational expenses. Plus, you’ll receive a monthly stipend of 55,000 rupees throughout your degree. After you successfully complete your MBBS/BDS, you won’t have to go through any additional selection process. Instead, you’ll directly join the Pakistan Army as a Captain Doctor.

Completing these two steps is essential to secure your admission

Although the basic procedure is the same, Paying Cadets seat is only reserved for Army Brats. Civilians are not eligible to take admission via Paying Cadets seats.

Army Medical College offers the following programs:

  • Under Graduate Programs that are MBBS & BDS
  • Post Graduate Programs like FCPS, M.Phil, & PhD

Eligibility Criteria

The below-mentioned are the eligibility criteria for securing admission to AMC.

  • Qualification: FSc (Pre-Medical) from any Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education 60% aggregate marks each in Matric and FSc are necessary. Or An equivalent qualification Overseas High School Certificate/British General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level)/International Baccalaureate with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, as approved by PMC.
  • For “Medical Cadet Course”:
    • Age: (as on 31 2024): 17 to 22 years
    • Minimum Height: 5’-4” or (162.5 cm)
    • Weight: As per Body Mass Index (BMX)
  • Nationality: Citizen of Pakistan and domicile holders of Azad Kashmir/Gilgit-Baltistan. If a candidate has dual nationality and is selected for MBBS, he will have to surrender nationalities other than Pakistani.

  • MBBS: Total Seats 204
  • BDS: Total Seats 54

  • Medical Cadets Free of Cost
  • NUMS or Paying Cadets 220,000 PKR per year
  • Foreign Cadets $12,000 per year

1. Admission Through Medical Cadet Course

In the selection procedure for Army medical college Admission through the Medical Cadet Course, there are different levels. Candidates must have to go and complete all the levels for final selection.

Below mentioned are some levels of AMC tests.

  • Initial Intelligence Test: This test is divided into 2 parts (Verbal and non-verbal tests). The candidate has to clear this test for further process. But firstly, you have to clear the verbal test and then proceed to the non-verbal test.
  • Academic Test: This test is basically an army medical college entry test and consists of MCQs from the FSc syllabus and is divided into 4 parts (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and English).
  • Physical Test: It is the prerequisite of the Army Medical College Admission to clear the physical test like army cadets.
  • Medical Test: This test is conducted under the supervision of an Army doctor at Army Selection and Recruitment Centers (ASRC) in different cities like Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Multan. This test includes weight, height, and eyesight vision tests.
  • Personality Test: This test is very important because during this test the personality and thinking style is judged by a panel of experts. This test is conducted only in GHQ Rawalpindi. The candidate who has cleared the previous steps is called GHQ for 2 days in September or October.
  • Final Selection: The final selection will be done by medical directors at GHQ considering the overall performance of the candidate.
  • Bond: Finally selected candidates must sign a bond to serve for at least 13 years in the Pak army after graduating from Army Medical College Rawalpindi.
  • Military Training: After completing medical education (MBBS/BDS), every graduate of army medical college undergoes Basic Military Training of 22 weeks offered by GHQ PA Directorate at Army Medical Corps School and Center Abbottabad.

2. Admission Through NUMS Cadets

NUMS conducts entry tests in all major cities of Pakistan. The test is conducted twice a year through the National Testing Service (NTS). The first test is conducted in August based on the candidate’s 1st year’s result.

The second test is held in September based on the result of the 2nd year. Moreover, a candidate can appear in both tests. Also, they can choose the result with the best score out of the tests to apply.

Whether the candidate is male or female, they can apply through NUMS. The intelligence test is not included in these tests. They don’t have to give any Army test any further as well.

Moreover, NUMS cadets are free to practice after MBBS. Nevertheless, If they want to serve as a Captain Doctor in the Army, they have to apply for Army separately after completion of MBBD or BDS.

Register for Nums Entry Test

After evaluating yourself according to Criteria of Eligibility, the Applicant must follow the following steps

  1. Go to the National Testing Service website.
  2. Click on the “Registration” for the NUMS Entry Test.
  3. Carefully fill out the NUMS Form and select a test center from the following options: Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Quetta, Multan, Peshawar, Bahawalpur, Karachi, Dera Ismail Khan, and Gwadar
  4. A challan of 3,000 PKR will be generated under your name, download it along with your Application form and print it.
  5. Pay the challan to the nearest HBL bank. Get the Original challan for yourself and NUMS stamped.
  6. Post the printed application form and the Originally paid challan form (NUMS copy) to “National Testing Service (NUMS Project) Plot 96, Street No. 4, Sector H-8/1, Islamabad”

Take the Test

On the day of the test, the candidate must arrive at the venue of the examination an hour before the test starts to avoid any chances of delay.

The candidate must bring the following things on the day of the test:

  1. Original CNIC or National Identity Smartcard or Official NADRA token slip or NADRA and government stamped “B” Form with Candidate’s picture.
  2. The printed copy of the admit card or the Roll No. slip.
  3. Clean Clipboard.
  4. Two ballpoint pens. Markers, pencils, and pointers are not allowed.

The Result

On the next working day, NUMS uploads answers to the test on their website (www.numspk.edu.pk) for self-evaluation.

The result of the test will be displayed in a week on their website or through email. Keep in mind that the Weightage formula for admission is 50% of F. Sc. And 50% of the NUMS test. The candidate with 70% marks in the NUMS entry test is eligible to apply for admission.

Admission Form

The candidate needs to get an admission form from Army Medical College, Rawalpindi, by buying their prospectus (Cost: Rs 3000/-). Fill out the form carefully. Attach the following attested copies of the following documents:

  1. Two photographs
  2. Copy of Matriculation result
  3. Copy of F. Sc. Or HSSC or A-levels result
  4. Copy of CNIC or “B” form

Submit the compiled documents to the assigned admission office of the college.

3. Admission Through Paying Cadet

The admission process for paying cadets is a little bit different. After checking your eligibility conditions, you can apply for the AMC test by following the below-mentioned test.

After evaluating yourself according to the Criteria of Eligibility, the Applicant must follow the following steps:

Get a Paying Cadet Form

Before the NUMS test, you have to apply for a PC seat in advance. According to army divisions, the PC forms are available at the below-mentioned Headquarters.

  • Who serves in the Army must collect the form from GHQ.
  • The Air Force cadets collect the form from AHQ.
  • Candidates with parents who serve in the Navy can collect the form from NHQ.

After getting the form, fill it with all of the right information. Next attached are the following attested copies of your documents.

  • Original CNIC or National Identity Smartcard or Official NADRA token slip or NADRA and government stamped “B” Form with Candidate’s picture.
  • Copy Matriculation and F. Sc. Or HSSC result
  • Release Certification of the parent who served in the Army/Navy/Air force. (If retired)

Submit the PC Form

After completing all the PC form requirements, you can submit them to GHQ/AHQ/NHQ. On the other side, your parents can also ask the office clerk about their OAS unit system for form submission.

Register for NUMS Test

Next, you have to go to the NTS (National Testing Service) original website nts.org.pk and follow all the NUMS candidate applicants’ information.

Take the Test

On the test day, the candidate must need to arrive at the examination hall one hour before the test time. It’s better to arrive early at the examination hall. On the test day, the candidate has to bring the following documents.

  • Original CNIC or National Identity Smartcard or Official NADRA token slip or NADRA and government stamped “B” Form with Candidate’s picture on it.
  • The printed copy of the admit card or the Roll No. slip.
  • Clean Clipboard.
  • Two ballpoint pens. Markers, pencils, and pointers are not allowed.

The Result

For self-evaluation, the NUMS discloses the test answer on their original website numspk.edu.pk after some days of the test. The final result will be posted on their website in a few days or emailed to each cadet.

Note, the importance here is that in the weightage formula, 50% of FSc marks and 50% of NUMS test marks are added. Besides this, the candidate with 70% marks in the NUMS entry test and above is also eligible for admission.

The Admission Form

For admission, you have to buy the prospectus from college. The prospectus price is Rs 3000/.

Separate the admission form from the prospectus and fill it out carefully. After filling out the form attached the attested copies  below mentioned documents

  • Two photographs
  • Matriculation and F. Sc. Or HSSC result
  • CNIC or “B” form

Now, submit the documents with the admission form to the assigned admission office of the college.

4. Admission For Foreign Applicants

The foreign students with dual nationality can also apply for admission in AMC. their eligibility criteria.

  1. British Council or British General Certification of Education (A-Levels)
  2. Cambridge Higher School Certification (Overseas)
  3. Foreign National High School.
  4. The candidate must qualify with biology, chemistry, and physics subjects with cumulative marks of 60%, minimum, or equivalent.
  5. They can also apply for the NUMS  entry test.
  6. If the NUMS test is not possible, candidates can apply based on SAT-II. But in SAT-ll their subjects must be Biology, Chemistry, and Physics with a minimum score of 550 each.
  7. For admission, they can also pass the Foreign MCAT with the aggregation of 500 out of 528 scores or more.

The prospectus cost of AMC is Rs3000, and for the admission form, the candidate must have to buy the prospects. To secure your seat, you have to fill the form with the right information and attach the attested copies of the below-mentioned documents.

  • Two photographs
  • Matriculation and F. Sc. Or HSSC result
  • CNIC or “B” form

After completing the form and documentation, submit them to the AMC admission office. Next, keep an eye on the merit list date. Check the merit list carefully yourself. If your name appears in the merit, you will have to visit the college admission office for further admission procedures.

One important thing to note here is that there is no need to sign a service bond with the army if the foreign candidate applies through NUMS.

Note:- Few students wait for the call, but most of the time, miss it. We recommend you check the merit list by yourself. If the candidate’s name appears on the list, he or she should visit the college at the earliest to proceed with the admission process. Afterward, the college will guide the further procedure.
