Sindh Medical College Admission 2023-24 [SMC Karachi]

Sindh Medical College was established on the 7th of April, 1973. The government of Sindh approved the college. Approximately 350 students took admission to this excellent college to start their MBBS journey in 1973. The name of the first principal of the college was Khawaja Moin Ahmed.

It is a public sector medical college that offers an excellent educational environment to the students. Moreover, this college is recognized by the Higher Education Commission. It is affiliated with the National Institute of Child Health, the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre & the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases.

Eligibility Criteria

• The student should get 65% of the intermediate or equivalent exam scores.
• Students must have a domicile in the Karachi district.
• Applicant’s CNIC or B.form from NADRA is compulsory.
• They must have a permanent address in Sindh.

Departments

In the beginning, there were just three departments in SMC Physiology, Anatomy (with Histology) & Biochemistry. However, later on, there was a new block constructed in the college for more departments.

Laboratory

A laboratory in the college has a multimedia projector for representing the microscopy lesson to the students. The competent staff helps them to choose slides also. Also, the teachers help the students to understand Pathology on the microscopic level.

Lecture Hall

On the first floor of the building, there is a lecture hall. It is named after the late professor Dr. Abdul Razzak Memon. It is an air-conditioned hall, and around 350 plus students can sit here easily as the hall is big enough. The hall also has a multimedia projector, slide projector, overhead projector, and PA system.

Learning Resource Centre

The learning resource center is the latest addition to the Pathology department. It makes available the gross specimen and histopathology atlases for the students. Moreover, it fixes the microscopic slide in microscopes.

Museum

There are lots of rare samples available in the museum. Also, the executives are still renovating it.
